About Me
I am Dr. Ramanand Pandit, a public health professional, academic leader, researcher, and development expert with more than two decades of experience in teaching, research, policy development, program management, and institutional leadership in Nepal’s health and education sectors. I currently serve as Principal / Campus Chief at Kathmandu College of Central State, where I provide strategic leadership in academic planning, faculty development, and institutional growth.
I hold a PhD in Public Health (Occupational Health), a Master of Public Health (MPH), and a Bachelor of Science, complemented by extensive professional training in health systems research, nutrition in emergencies, HIV/AIDS program management, leadership, communication, and community-based health interventions.
Throughout my academic career, I have served as Associate Professor, Lecturer, Head of Department, and Program Coordinator in a wide range of medical and health science institutions, including KIST Medical College, Om Health Science College, CIST College, NAMS College, Everest Nursing College, KCHS College, and many others. My teaching areas include public health theory and practice, environmental and occupational health, health behavior science, community health, nutrition, research methodology, reproductive health, and program evaluation.
Beyond academia, I have made significant contributions to national health policy and programming. From 2010 to 2012, I worked as a Program Officer for the Tobacco Control Program at NHEICC, Ministry of Health, where I was directly involved in developing Nepal’s Tobacco Control Act, regulations, and directives. I have also served as a national and district-level trainer and facilitator for major public health initiatives such as IMCI, MIYCN, IMAM, infant and young child feeding, and tobacco control programs in collaboration with UNICEF, Save the Children, WHO, and the Government of Nepal.
I have led and contributed to numerous national and international consultancy projects as Team Leader and Program Expert, partnering with organizations including Care International Nepal, Marie Stopes Nepal, Save the Children, UNICEF, Himalayan Trust Nepal, Terre des hommes Foundation, and the Social Welfare Council. My consulting work focuses on health systems strengthening, SRH access, nutrition programming, NCD prevention, and community development.
As a researcher, I have published extensively in national and international journals on topics including occupational stress, healthcare quality, health insurance systems, nutrition, education, organizational behavior, and community development. I actively participate as a speaker, presenter, and delegate in professional seminars, workshops, and conferences related to public health and development.
Through my combined roles as educator, researcher, policy advisor, and institutional leader, I remain committed to strengthening public health systems, advancing academic excellence, and promoting sustainable development in Nepal.
